Join us for the Duplicate It Garment Course with Rosemary.

Gain knowledge and practice of simple pattern tracing in order to reproduce the style or fit of a favorite garment without damaging that pre existing garment.  Work on your own individual projects by tracing a garment of your  choice, finishing the pattern, sewing a try out, then analyzing the results and making further fitting refinements to a final pattern - to go on and make your own.

Practice techniques and go through all steps towards a completed pattern using an existing garment of your own. The final pattern can then be useful to recreating the same style the same style or using as a base pattern for variations.

• Explore the issues of pattern tracing from different garments
• Develop best techniques of tracing and the value of darts
• Discovering the best fit and adding seam allowances
• Suitability of fabric for style
• Fit and style variations
• Discuss and work on individual garments, cutting and sewing a sample when necessary.

You will need to bring/supply:

• Your Sewing Machine
• Your Sewing Kit and Pattern Drafting Requirements
• 2.5m of polycotton dress width fabric for toile
• Fabric for your final creation, details will be provided after booking

Important Notes:.

• It is STRONGLY ADVISED that students select a simple garment with 4 -6 pieces in total to reproduce in the class so that they can complete the whole exercise/all techniques in the time available. Examples include a child's garment,
  simple skirt, simple shift dress, simple top or shirt
• If unsure please bring along two items for consideration. Pants, jacket or complex voluminous skirts would be difficult to complete in the time and space available so hence will not be acceptable for the class
