Shibori is a traditional Japanese dyeing technique that typically involves folding, twisting, compressing or stitching cloth before binding it. It is then dyed in an indigo vat. Whatever is used to bind the fabric will resist the dye, resulting in areas of the cloth that take the distinctive blue dye in patterns created by the resist. The other areas of the cloth remain white.

In this Masterclass you will create two scarves, one cotton and one silk whilst discovering and learning about three types of Shibori.
